About Dotty in the Kitchen


I'm Dorothy, the face behind the food. I'm a Private Chef and Event Caterer in Newcastle Upon Tyne. I've been a chef for six years now! I guess it's true what they say: time really does fly when you're having fun.

I moved to Newcastle Upon Tyne after I graduated to complete my teacher training. I immediately fell in love with this warm, quirky city and the stunning coast and countryside in surrounding Northumberland. Being a Secondary School Teacher, however, didn't quite capture my heart in the same way. So, I made the bold leap to quit teaching and follow my heart into the kitchen and I've never looked back!

I spent two years working in a variety of different restaurants, growing from a avid home-cook to a chef. From a cosy gastro pub in Durham, to an urban bistro in Ouseburn, to a five star hotel in County Durham, I have developed a broad repertoire of culinary expertise.


When lockdown hit, I found myself back where it all started: cooking in my kitchen at home. This gave me the time and the push that I needed to get Dotty in the Kitchen off the ground. Since then, I've cooked for hundreds of people in their homes, at their holiday cottages, at their workplace or their wedding and I've never been happier! 



Dotty was fantastic from the beginning and throughout, where she communicated with us regularly, listened to our ideas and gave her professional expertise - creating a perfect personalised menu.


Ingredients were fresh and locally sourced and I didn’t have to lift a finger all evening. Completely spoilt.
