About Dotty in the Kitchen
I'm Dorothy, the face behind the food. I'm usually found in the kitchen (hence the name), tending to our urban veg plot or scoffing one of my tasty creations at the dinner table.
Hosting is my speciality. From planning the perfect menu, to sourcing the right drinks, setting the atmosphere and, of course, serving up beautifully delicious plates of food, I pride myself on creating events to remember.
After graduating in English Literature, I moved to Newcastle Upon Tyne in 2015 and immediately fell in love with this warm, quirky city and the stunning coast and countryside in surrounding Northumberland. I spent three years teaching in Secondary schools in the North East however in 2018 I made the bold leap to follow my heart into the kitchen.
I spent almost two years working in a variety of different restaurants, growing from a avid home-cook to a chef. From a cosy gastro pub in Durham, to an urban bistro in Ouseburn, to a five star hotel in County Durham, I have developed a broad repertoire of culinary expertise.
However, home cooking is still at the heart of what I do. My food is generous, honest and is about the pure unadulterated pleasure of sitting down with loved ones to eat.
